The ‘Domus’ collection is all about familiarity, in which the brand wanted to explore clothes as an extension of your home. Domus is the latin word for Home, this collection has a 70’s/80’s feel to it, through its use of domestic textiles such as old leather couches and velvet armchairs.
When talking about the collection Hedlund says: “We thought of our own homes growing up and what familiar about them – but we also remembered all those elements and interiors that we hated and disliked but now think fondly of”.
Throughout this AW16 collection, CMMN SWDN plays with what is luxury fabric using both real and faux suede and leather. A boxy, cropped fit dominates the jackets and tops while high waists and slim legs define the trouser and jeans. Key pieces include full-length unlined duffle coat with raw edges and another duffel version made completely from blanket fabric with retro graphics, elsewhere you’ll find water resistant anoraks, and shirts and quilted bomber jackets with extreme cutaway collars in an earthy colour pallette.
