While watching closely the collections during the previous London Fashion Week as well as New York, Paris and Milan. I have noticed a trend that was already present during S/S ‘14 shows but it felt like it has expanded ten times since then. I was always very curious how hundreds of designers, living different lives, in different environment, speaking different languages and having different points of view still manage to connect during fashion week and create very similar designs to each other, and creating trends later on worn by thousands, if not millions of people around the world.
If you don’t think this isn’t powerful I don’t know what is! Fashion is a major part of each of our lives, we all wear clothes after all. However trends change so rapidly that even I can barely catch it. What’s so amazing about trends other than they come and go is the fact they are staying with us longer than usual!I have amazing news for all of you comfort fans out there! Looks like this upcoming season, the fashion world has slowed down with their elegance and felinity a little bit, it doesn’t make much sense as you can move much faster wearing trainers than stilettos! But as I hate admitting it, fashion isn’t only all about elegant silk dresses, fur coats and heels higher than the sky. From time to time, even I like to jump into something more comfortable. For this season you’re in for a treat! One of the biggest names in fashion, and smaller ones as well, have decided to give us fashionistas elegance but at the same time comfort. Therefore I like to present you something I like to call “Sport Chic”. The fashion sporty ecstatic has always made me think of fashion of New York City, very casual yet chic, designers from this city known for such aesthetics like Alexander Wang and Donna Karan New York (DKNY) each season present their take on elegant yet sporty women.
Parisian fashion houses, Chanel, Celine and Louis Vuitton did their versions of Sport chic, with the twist of French elegance. From colourful tweeded jackets and oversized jumpers with splash of colourful pearls from Chanel, and let’s not forget those fabulous trainers that models stacked the floors of Chanel’s shopping centre! I would have never thought trainers could work so well with such high fashion brand as Chanel! Louis Vuittons version of Sport Chic under the wing of their newest creative director, Nicolas Ghesquiere was less colourful but the fit of the clothes gave fine and very elegant way of sport aesthetics to it. I may have not be so obvious at first but the texture have it all away. However out of all these designers I think I loved what Celine has done the most! Mixing oversized flares with khaki tailored jacket and trainers was the best combination of French does Sports! It looked so comfortable as well as elegant and tres chic!
